What about expansion joints in your façade?

Dilatatievoegen
Lowie Bricks, expansion joints and how to do it!

Dilatation or expansion joints, simply put, is a way of giving your façade some room to breathe. It is the method of accommodating expansion and contraction due to temperature fluctuations by applying a continuous small open joint. About every 6 metres, there will be an expansion joint.

At Lowie Bricks, we offer free advice for these expansion joints: we request the plans from your contractor and make specific recommendations based on the project. To make sure there will be no cracks or damage to your bricks, this is a necessary process. But don’t worry, we offer you free guidance and advice.

Do you opt for our ecological Lowie Bricks? Then we always recommend dilation joints. These can also be added not in a straight line, but in the form of steps, which makes them a lot less visible. Another thing you can do is use ‘Murfor’. This is something you can use to use less of the expansion joints to your façade. You can reinforce the façade and fewer dilatation joints will be needed (+- every 8m instead of every 6m).

When you buy Lowie Bricks, you always will receive dilatation advice based on your project. We contact the contractor to request the plans so that we can provide this advice specifically. We highly recommend this with these facing bricks.
