In 2019, our sister company Lowie (LOW Impact) Bricks launched a research and development programme to find sustainable and affordable alternatives to classic facing bricks. By experimenting extensively with new patented techniques Lowie Bricks succeeded, on the one hand, in developing a brick with a CO² reduction of 80% compared to ceramic bricks and, on the other hand, retaining the aesthetic and qualitative characteristics of ceramic facing bricks. The hybrid character where the brick positions itself between ceramic and concrete provides a solid base that meets all technical requirements. The new, revolutionary Lowie facing bricks are best described by the following three keywords: durable, affordable and authentic.
Sustainable
Lowie Bricks’ revolutionary manufacturing process does not require an energy-intensive firing process. The Lowie bricks harden based on an initial hydraulic bonding process + long-term natural carbonation. As a result, there is an 80% CO2 reduction compared to clay bricks.
Affordable
It is our conviction that ecological progress is only possible if it is also affordable. This is why the prices of the Lowie Bricks fall below those of the aesthetic brick equivalent.
Authentic
The production process is specifically tailored to preserve the authentic look and feel of traditional facing bricks.
