In 2019, our sister company Lowie (LOW Impact) Bricks launched a groundbreaking research and development program aimed at finding sustainable and affordable alternatives to traditional facade bricks. Today, the first Lowie Bricks projects are under construction, and two have already been fully completed.
The innovative Lowie Bricks, developed using patented techniques, offer an impressive CO² reduction of 80% compared to classic ceramic bricks. This is possible thanks to a revolutionary production process that does not require an energy-intensive firing process. The bricks harden through an initial hydraulic binding process, followed by prolonged natural carbonation, which contributes to the durability of the facade bricks.
Beernem and Meulebeke
The first completed projects were realized by contractor Arne Dewaelsche and are located in Beernem and Meulebeke. In Beernem, the project was completed using the Lowie Classic White, and in Meulebeke, with the Lowie Design White.
Both projects illustrate the versatility and aesthetic qualities of Lowie Bricks.
Three Keywords: Sustainable, Affordable, and Authentic
The core values of Lowie Bricks can be summarized in three words:
Sustainable: Thanks to the innovative production process, an 80% CO2 reduction is achieved compared to clay bricks, without compromising quality or appearance.
Affordable: Ecological progress must be affordable. Therefore, Lowie Bricks are offered at prices below those of their aesthetic brick equivalent.
Authentic: Despite the modern production process, Lowie Bricks retain the authentic look & feel of traditional facade bricks, which is essential for their broad applicability in various architectural styles.
With this successful launch and the commencement of the first projects, Lowie Bricks takes a significant step towards a more sustainable and affordable future in the construction sector.
We look forward to the next projects featuring these revolutionary facade bricks.
