our story

The Olivier Bricks brick factory in Rumbeke (Roeselare) has been well known for generations and was founded in 1949 by Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Olivier-Decruy. In 2014, Olivier Bricks was taken over by the Roussel Group. We remain faithful to our traditional production methods, but are also strongly committed to innovation. This pursuit of innovation is particularly evident in our collaboration with our sister company Lowie Bricks, which focuses entirely on sustainable, ecological facing bricks.

Fashion trends are temporary. Facade bricks are eternal. That is why every Olivier brick is timeless. This philosophy starts with the selection of high-quality raw materials. Only top quality makes the final cut. For each series, we look for a unique mix of base materials. This makes each series unique, ensures it meets all contemporary quality requirements, and makes it reproducible thanks to our computer-controlled manufacturing process.

More about Lowie Bricks

Sustainable
The revolutionary production process of Lowie Bricks does not require an energy-intensive firing process. Lowie bricks harden based on an initial hydraulic binding process + prolonged natural carbonation. This results in an 80% CO2 reduction compared to clay bricks.
Affordable
It is our conviction that ecological progress is only possible if it is also affordable. Therefore, the prices of Lowie Bricks are below those of their aesthetic brick equivalent.
Authentic
The production process has been specifically refined to preserve the authentic look & feel of traditional facing bricks.
In 2019, our sister company Lowie (LOW Impact) Bricks launched a research and development program to find sustainable and affordable alternatives to traditional facing bricks. Through extensive experimentation with new, patented techniques, Lowie Bricks has succeeded in developing a brick with an 80% CO² reduction compared to ceramic bricks, while maintaining the aesthetic and qualitative characteristics of ceramic facing bricks. The hybrid nature, positioning the brick between ceramic and concrete, provides a solid foundation that meets all technical requirements.
